As we head into winter, classrooms can be a good place for your child to catch the flu. According to Jenna Grout, nurse with Mid-Prairie School District, parents who are skeptical about getting their child the flu shot should talk with their family physician. She says that it’s recommended by most healthcare providers.

She says that when students have the shot it reduces the spread of the virus and is especially beneficial in reducing that chance in a classroom setting.

For the past few years, flu numbers have been very low at Mid-Prairie School District. Grout shares that like anywhere it’s important for teachers and custodial staff to make sure things like doorknobs and desks are clean.
