The Washington Demons fell to No. 11 Fairfield last night in three sets.

Fairfield beat the Demons 25-18, 25-20, and after leading the whole set, dropped set three 28-26.

Stephanie Fishback was the leading killer with six, while Beth Dillon was 7-8 from the service line with two aces, Lauren Kimball had 20 assists, and Sam Ellingson had 20 digs.

Head coach Jeff Spenner said to win games against ranked teams the enthusiasm of set three has to be on the court for all three games.

“It’s one of those nights that you are playing a ranked team, and you are hoping you come out with a win, and I think the girls have that ability,” Spenner said. “They have to show the drive like we did, and the cheering and just the movements that we did in the third game to be able to do that, it was a close game and it could have gone either way, but it was nice to see them come back and fight.”

Washington will have their final home game and senior night on Tuesday.
