The Washington Demons continue to score with their explosive offense, winning 56-6 against Ft. Madison, and leading 42-0 at half.

The Bloodhounds got the opening kickoff, but failed to do anything with the ball, which describes the Ft. Madison offense all night. The Demons had a good punt return, putting them on the Bloodhound 49 yard line, and for the second week in a row, Washington scored on their first play from scrimmage, as Alex Coker took the ball 49 yards for a touchdown.

The Demons got the ball back quickly, and converted again off a seven play drive that was capped off by Daryn Sebelius getting a five yard touchdown run.

In their next possession the Demons went three and out after some broken plays, but Kyle Roder let the defense take care of the scoring, braking through the line so quickly, that he intercepted a screen pass to the running back in the backfield and scored a touchdown. Ft. Madison’s Cruz Fedler went 9-26 with two interceptions, the other by Mitchell Hora, and no touchdowns.

Up 21-0 the Demons let Sebelius show off his arm, with a 47 yard touchdown pass to Tanner Knupp to make it 28-0. Washington scored twice more in the half with Carl Sivels scoring from 18 yards out, and Coker taking just one play to score from 84 out.

The score was 42-0 at halftime, and the Demons were getting the ball at the start of the second half, and they converted, after a pass interference call, Sebelius took a naked bootleg to the left side that he could have crawled to the endzone on for the touchdown.

Washington then put in their second team offense and defense, allowing Ft. Madison to get past the fifty yard line for the first time in the game in the fourth quarter, and they scored on the drive from a four yard run by Landon Dohman, but missed the PAT.

The Demons were not done though, as JV quarterback Jeff Knupp came into the game, and led a drive down the field to score the fourth quarter touchdown to make the final score 56-6.

Coker finished with 189 yards and two touchdowns, while Sebelius was 6-9 with 127 yards and a touchdown on the ground and through the air.

Head coach Randy Shrader said after the game that he was proud with the win and the preparation up to the game.

“We were really concerned about their focus, and we talked about this morning about their quarterback, he ran the ball fairly well, and of course he got that one on our two’s, but then our two’s came back to score,” Shrader said. “I’m proud of our guys, I’m proud of how they focused and prepared for the game and proud of our coaching staff, they did a great job.”

The Demons play their final regular season game at home next week against bottom of the conference Centerville.
