Sigourney faces Winfield Mt-Union tonight in an area battle in the quarterfinals of the 1A state volleyball tournament.

Sigourney defeated Twin Cedars in five, while WMU beat New London in five to get to where they are now.

The Wolves are 27-7 with a sixth ranked in the state 10.23 kills per set and a eighth ranked in the state 3.38 aces per set.

The Savages are 11th in the state in kills per set with 9.51, and are 13th in the state with aces per set with 3.09.

WMU head coach Dave Pieart says his team’s offense will dictate whether his team is winning or not.

“For us it’s probably a case of our offense, we’ve put a lot emphasis this year, from past Winfield teams on pushing our offense and being able to generate kills, and I think we have four to five quality hitters and I think we make use of all of them,” Pieart said. “If we can run what we want to run tonight, that’s a good sign for us.”

First serve will be tonight in Sigourney at 7 P.M.
