Winfield- Mt.Union took home the win in the first round of the playoffs.

The Wolves beat Maharishi 3-0 in the match and won 25-1, 25-3 and 25-11 in the sets.

Erica Robinson had 11 kills, while Katie Benson had 24 assists and Robinson had two blocks.

Five players had four or more aces on the night, with Anna Crawford having six, Shelby Therme with six, Robinson with five and Escher and Layne Davis both having four.

Head coach Dave Pieart said he thought his serves were great, but that they may have had some help to look better.

“I thought we were a very solid serving team last night, I also think Maharishi struggled at times with their serve receive which made our serving a bit stronger than it really was,” Pieart said.

WMU face New London next on Tuesday, after New London beat WACO 3-0 to end WACO’s season.. WMU and New London have played twice before, and it was New London who got the wins.
