Winfield- Mt. Union wrapped up their regular season last night with a 3-0 win over Wapello.

The Wolves won 25-10, 25-18 and 25-17.

Alicia Escher led the team in kills with 14, while Katie Benson set up points 31 times, and Shelby Therme had 10 digs.

WMU finished with one of their best records with a 25-7 overall record and 8-1 in the conference, losing only to the only 3A team in the conference and No. 1 in 3A Mediapolis.

Head coach Dave Pieart says he was happy about the win, but now the team goes back to basics to prepare for districts.

“For us, we tend to for the first couple of practices go back to basics,” Pieart said. “We almost treat it like we are starting over again in August. We go back to doing a lot of real basic routine drills like fundamentals, and then build our way back into six player stuff.

WMU hosts Maharishi in the first round of the playoffs next week.
