The City of Washington now has extended hours for dropping off yard waste at the Yard Waste Center near the city’s waste water treatment plant.  Normally the center is only open weekdays from 7 to 4.  Those hours will continue, but during the month of November, there is also time available Saturday mornings from 7 to 10 a.m.

The Yard Waste Center does not accept lumber or building materials.  The city also reminds residents that if you are using plastic bags to bring yard waste and tree trimmings, to  take those bags with you as you leave.

Also, Washington has been catching up with their ongoing curbside leaf pickup.  The truck and leaf vacuum has had mechanical trouble and was out of commission for a short time.  It is now back in service and picking up leaves that are piled up next to the street.
