The cause of an accident last Sunday evening has been disclosed. According to the Iowa State Patrol the accident that injured four people on Wayland Road was caused by a driver falling asleep.

56 year old Sharon Kay Boner was driving southbound near Crooked Creek when she fell asleep and crossed into the northbound lane. A vehicle traveling north attempted to get out of the way, moving into the southbound lane, when Boner awoke, corrected herself and struck the northbound vehicle head on.  The other driver along with Boner and her two passengers were transported from the scene to University of Iowa Hospitals by ambulance.

Those responding include the Washington County Sheriffs Department, Iowa State Patrol, Washington County Ambulance, Washington Fire Department and Washington Rescue.
