The Columbus Junction football team landed three players on the first team all-district team.

Esteban Gutierrez was named the district MVP running back with 1,008 yards and seven touchdowns.

Head coach Jeff Martin said Gutierrez is what the program is all about.

“He’s a young man that moved into our district as a ninth grader, and we didn’t know what we had at that point,” Martin said, “He was about 40 pounds less than he is now, and he’s made himself into a football player, and he’s a kid that we really love having around.”

Other first teamers were Ricky Rivers for receiver with 318 yards and seven touchdowns, Alex Martinez and Mark Ramirez who led the team in tackles with 63.

On the Second team was Kenan Todd and for honorable mention was Javi Diaz, Irvin Rodriguez and Chase Finke.
