The Washington girl’s basketball team plays their first game next Saturday at the Iowa Hall of pride game against WACO.

The Demons are the defending conference champions as they went undefeated in the conference.

Washington loses four seniors due to graduation, including Lauren Vittetoe and Sydney Greiner, who put up 497 combined points.

The Demons play Mid-Prairie on Nov. 27, before starting conference play again Fairfield on Dec. 7. They play second place in the conference Keokuk on Dec. 14 and then again on Jan. 25.

Head coach Phil Long says his team is lacking height, but fast.

“[We have] no height, I mean we are like midget basketball, there is no doubt about it, but we’re Jimmy John’s when it comes defensively, we’re freaky fast,” Long said.

The Demons get their season started on the 17th against WACO.
