IMS Girl’s Basketball Looks to Improve on Last Season

The IMS girl’s basketball team is looking to improve on their season last year, finishing in last place in the Southeast Iowa Superconference North division with a 2-16 record.

IMS lost just one senior last year, and bring back leading scorers Olivia Yutzy and Kristin Davis.

They start their practice off tomorrow with the Mid-Prairie Jamboree, and start the real season later this week.

Their second game of the season, IMS plays Mediapolis at home on Nov. 20, but won’t see second place in the conference WMU until Dec. 14.

IMS will see Mediapolis again on Dec. 21 and WMU again on Jan. 25, the last regular season game of the year.

The SEISC shootout is on Feb. 1 before the state playoffs begin.

IMS head coach Aaron Gingerich says his team is feeling good about the season already.

“I think a big strength for us, this year is our confidence is pretty high going into the season. [we had] a couple of wins, 10 last year, so we can carry that momentum going into this season,” Gingerich said. “The girls have been practicing really hard, they have a great attitudes, and I think they are having a lot of fun so far, and that is all we can ask.”

IMS starts their season on Friday against Wapello.
