The IMS girls opened up the season 48-21 loss on the road against Wapello. The game was tight to the midway point of the second quarter with the Arrows holding an 11-8 lead. Wapello held IMS scoreless from that point to the beginning of the 4th quarter building a 36-8 lead. IMS was able to outscore Wapello 13-12 in the fourth.

IMS was led by Senior Hannah Gingerich and Junior Olivia Yutzy who had six point points apiece, Yutzy also posted eight steals and four blocks. Sophomores Demi Brezina and Riley Schmieder had four points each, and Cassidy Bontrager added six rebounds.

Coach Aaron Gingerich commented, “The girls hung in early on and kept it close, but our carelessness with the ball really hurt us as the game progressed. We will have to get stronger with our ball handling.”

IMS falls to 0-1 on the season, and next plays Tuesday night at home against Mediapolis.
