The people of Iowa decided to give two Democratic incumbents another term in office yesterday. Before 11o’clock last night Democrat Dave Loebsack was declared the winner of the District 2 seat in the House of Representatives. District-wide he received around 158,500 votes compared to Republican challenger John Archer’s 119,000. In Washington County the race was closer with Loebsack only receiving 50% of the votes. Barack Obama and Joe Biden won Iowa, receiving 51% of Iowans votes. In Washington County the majority of residents backed Mitt Romney. Romney garnered 4,999 votes out of the around 10,000 cast in the presidential race.
