A local church has preparations underway for their annual Christmas play. Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Washington includes live animals in their retelling of the Christmas story.

Pastor Joseph Brown says the annual production has its roots back nearly 40 years.  At that time a previous pastor wanted to tell the biblical Christmas story in a different way.  They collected animals from nearby farms to use in the play. Since then, the production level has grown to include other special effects.

The play is open to the public on December 8 and 9.
