A local organization is making an effort to sustain the pheasant and quail population to offset a diminishing habitat for those animals. Washington County Pheasants Forever Youth Coordinator Bob Bellmer says that the group helped to plant more than 200 acres of native grasses last year in Washington County.  Bellmer says he sees the program as especially important because farmers are taking more land out of C-R-P, which is good habitat for those birds.  The group is also preparing for their spring banquet fundraiser in March.
