Highland and Lone Tree meet up tonight in Southeast Iowa Superconference play.

The Huskies open up play for the first game tonight, will also have their first home stand of the season against Lone Tree.

The Lions fell to Columbus last week and are shooting just 24 percent. Lone Tree is led by Madelyn Flemr with 12 points, and the next closest is Ella Feldman with six points.

Highland head coach Jodi Fink says getting rebounds will help control and win tonight’s game.

“Control the boards, and not give up the easy shot to Lone Tree, they like to put some pressure on and take some easy shots, and the more we can limit that the better our chances our,” Fink said. “Hitting the boards for us, and control the pace of the game so we’re doing what we want, not what they want.”

Lone Tree head coach Travis Pierson said converting on their chances and make more chances with defense will give Lone Tree the edge.

“Jodi [Fink] has always got them playing very well, so my expectations are they are going to run the floor and play some zone and try to eliminate our shots and rebound the ball,” Pierson said. “We have to make our shots and play solid defense.”

The Lions travel to Highland tonight for tip-off at 7:30.
