The Lone Tree wrestling team starts practice next week, and will go to their first meet on November 29th against West Branch.

They will hold five different meets at home, including one quadrangular with Highland, VanBuren and Iowa Valley on Dec. 6, the Lone Tree invite on Jan. 3, another quadrangular with English Valley, Washington and Tipton on Jan. 8, a triangular with New London and L-M on Jan. 17th and finally the Southeast Iowa Superconference tournament on Jan. 26.

Lions head coach Brett Jones says the goal is to keep getting better through the year, but that sectionals is the place to perform.

“The biggest week for us is sectionals, the conference tournament is fine, but if we don’t perform at sectionals there is no regionals, there is no state,” Jones said. “So we’re going to try on focus on getting better every day, but come time for sectionals we need to put ourselves in position to get through to the next week.”

Lone Tree Wrestling hits the mats in West Branch the 29th.
