The No. 9 Mid-Prairie girl’s basketball team is in regular season action tonight when they take on West Liberty.

West Liberty brings back a lot of their team fro last year, only losing one senior to graduation, but they were 5-17 last year.

Mid-Prairie’s action so from came at their home Jamboree where they lost to Highland in a half of basketball, but return all of their starting lineup plus some bench players.

Golden-Hawks head coach Mark Pennington said defense is the key for tonight.

“I think the biggest thing for us is to get out and guard like I know we can, we didn’t play very good defense at our jamboree which we hadn’t worked on it a ton, so I kind of expected that some what, but we have to just play more physically defensively, keep our hands off people and make them earn everything,” Pennington said. “We need to have a little patience on our side, just get out, move the ball around a little bit, the biggest thing for us is get out and make then earn everything in the field.”

Mid-Prairie and West Liberty open up regular season play tonight at Mid-Prairie at 7:30.
