Wrestling, Mid-Prairie comes off the best season they have had as a school in history, and they only lost two seniors in the process.

The Golden-Hawks start their season at the end of November and will only wrestle at home once on Dec. 6 in a triangular with Durant and North Cedar.

They will have a tough matchup on Jan. 8 when they wrestle at Columbus with Regina as well, and on Jan. 17 when they see Washington.

Head coach Justin Garvey says early in the season, his team will be working on endurance, to be able to outlast their opponents in those tough matches.

“We really have to hit the basics right here in the beginning, and make sure that some of these guys that might be younger guys who might be stepping into varsity spots right away know how to handle themselves when they get out there in a varsity wrestling match,” Garvey said. “We’ve really got to hammer the basics, good stance, take down techniques and defense techniques and stuff, and conditioning making sure we can wrestle for a full six minutes.”

Mid-Prairie starts their season on Nov. 27 at English Valley.
