The buildings near Columbus High School are beginning to take form. Construction began on a new administration building and new athletic facility this summer.

Columbus Community Schools Superintendent Marlene Johnson says the progress that’s being made is exciting. She says their getting the roof on, the inside walls are going up and the heating is being put in so inside work can be done over the winter months.

The administration building will hold things including administrative offices, human resources and rooms will also be used for Muscatine Community College classes. The other building will house a gym, wrestling room and weight room.
