A representative from Iowa’s Alcoholic Beverages Division has examined and outlined three possibilities for serving alcohol outside, if a business were to pursue that idea – especially in downtown Washington. State law allows for a licensed restaurant to either serve drinks outside, or allow patrons to purchase drinks inside and bring them outside.  If a business pursued such service, some city ordinances might need to be changed to allow it.  The Washington City Council heard an explanation of the state regulations at their meeting Wednesday.
