A routine traffic stop today led to the arrest of a Fairfield man. This morning Fairfield Police pulled over 26 year old Rafael Israel Taylor McAnally of Fairfield and upon finding methamphetamine in his vehicle, a search warrant was obtained and executed at his residence.

Several items were found that led to McAnally and 33 year old Daniel Diaz Gonzalez being charged with Conspiracy to Deliver more than 5 grams of Ice Methamphetamine, a Class “B” Felony, and Drug Tax Stamp violation, a Class “D” felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Both are being held in Jefferson County Jail on $100,000 bond.

Those assisting in the investigation include the Fairfield Police Department, Fairfield Fire Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County and Fairfield Special Response Team, Southeast Iowa Interagency Drug Task Force and the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office. A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
