The Washington County Emergency Management Commission is meeting this evening. Over the summer, the board discussed the membership and bylaws of the group. They also were briefed on  new state legislation: Senate File 413, which changed some of the rules for who serves on the commission among other changes.

At that meeting, the group also heard an update on Emergency Support Functions from Washington and Keokuk County Emergency Management Coordinator Larry Smith who has made revisions to that document.

Tonight the commission plans to discuss equipment purchases and supplies among other updates.  They meet at the Washington County Emergency Operations Center at the Sheriff’s Office on Lexington Boulevard at 7 p.m. Tonight.
