Washington County Supervisor Seats Decided

After a long election season, multiple forums and plenty of ads the supervisor races have been decided in Washington County. In District 1, Republican Jack Seward Jr secured his position by receiving 1,543 votes to Democrat Kay Ciha’s 582. Due to a ballot shortage at the Kalona precinct, District 2 remained up in the air late into the night, but its Bob Yoder who will occupy that seat on the Washington County Board of Supervisors. In a three way race for District 4 it was Republican Stan Stoops who received the majority of the votes beating incumbent Adam Mangold and Democratic challenger Richard Gilmore. Another local race decided the Ward 3 seat on the Washington City Council. Incumbent Robert Shellmeyer won the seat,  receiving 490 votes to beat challenger Thomas Bowler.
