The City of Washington reminds residents that this week is the last scheduled week for yard waste pick-up and for the leaf-vac program for the season.  Washington City Clerk Illa Earnest says that the city Maintenance and Construction crew is starting to prepare for their wintertime efforts like snow clearing.

Earnest says that the crews should be able to clear away off most of the remaining yard waste by the end of the day Wednesday.  That effort includes picking up yard waste bags with lawn clippings and small branches.

The city is not doing a fall trash clean up this year.  However, residents can purchase a six-dollar tag at city hall for bulky items like desks, couches, mattresses, and dressers.  Those items then would be picked up on your normal trash day.
