The Washington Demons had one player make the first team all- Southeast Iowa conference team this year.

Lauren Kimball was the member selected as a setter, she had 567 assists, and averaged 7.46 per set.

Head coach Jeff Spenner says it was good to see Kimball make it after leading the conference.

“With Lauren getting first team, which is a great honor, she did a great job for us this year setting, she led the conference this year in assists, and also did a great job in serve, and it was great for her to get the first team,” Spenner said.

Sam Ellingson made second team for the Demons, Ellingson had 328 digs, 21 blocks, 18 aces and 443 kills.

Spenner said it was good to see an all around player like Sam make into such a small list that they take as all-conference.

“With only 14 girls only getting first or second, it is really a great honor for her as well,” Spenner said. “She did all around everything, she did the passing the serving, the hitting. She did a great job and it is really nice for her to get on there for the second team.”

Washington also had three honorable mentions with Beth Dillon, Stephanie Fishback and Maddie Collins.

The Demons hit the books as well in the conference, having 11 all-academic all-conference players, including Katlyn Christner, Michelle Holland, Lynnette Kennedy, Samantha Mullens, Carly Shelman, Johannah Vittetoe, Erica Zieglowsky, Dillon, Fishback, Vittetoe and Kimball.

The Demons finished fourth in the conference at 13-15.
