Farmers can carry bigger loads from the fields for one more week. On November 3rd Governor Terry Branstad extended the Harvest Weight Proclamation for 15 days.

The proclamation specifically increases the weight for those shipping corn, soybeans, hay, straw and stover by 12.5% per axle. This applies to all loads transported on highways in Iowa, excluding interstates. The extension ends on the Saturday the 17th.

Director of the Louisa County Farm Service Agency John Bartenhagen says the extension allows farmers to haul more crops to the market, saving them money.
