The newest arm of Washington City government meets tonight to discuss how the city’s cable channel will be made to be open to the public. The cable commission is looking to implement funds that Mediacom already collects for use by municipalities.

This year, Washington decided to create the commission to wok out the details of enhancing the public channel.

At their meeting tonight at the Washington Y-M-C-A, the commission will be discussing several concepts behind a public access channel.  They also are continuing their work to define the guidelines that determine how citizens can participate in recording, producing, and airing programs on their own.

The meeting is at 6:30 tonight.
