The Lone Tree and Columbus Junction boys will play tonight after the girl’s game.
Lone Tree has dominated through the first half of their scheduled, beating every conference school by double digit points.
Lone Tree is 8-0, and is shooting 42 percent from the floor, 44 percent from beyond the arc and 70 percent from the free throw line.
Bryan Forbes has 199 points this season, and 71 rebounds.
Lone Tree head coach Tom Squires said he doesn’t like Monday games, but he thinks his kids will be up for the challenge.
“I’m not a big fan of Monday games, because you don’t get to practice on Sunday, because it is Sunday,” Squires said. “We’re coming off a win on [Friday] against Louisa-Muscatine, so we’ll have to play Columbus without any practice, but I think our kids will be ready for that game, it’s kind of nice to have a couple of days off.”
Columbus Junction is still looking for that first win.
They are shooting 43 percent from the floor, and 41 percent from the free throw line.
Chase Finke leads the team with 72 points, while Kenan Todd has 41 rebounds.
Wildcat head coach Mark Beerends said if his team can break the press, they may be able to break through with some points.
“Lone Tree has just been pounding on everybody this year, they’ve beaten IMS who is a really good squad, and taken care of everyone else,” Beerends said. “They will press and force turnovers, and the biggest thing is to be patient with them, and we did that against WACO. Being patient on press break and finding guys who are open and moving to the open spots during press break, and hopefully if we do that successfully enough against Lone Tree’s press, they’ll pull that press off and we can get into the game a little bit.”
