Washington County is purchasing a new excavator for use maintaining roads.  Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius says that the secondary roads department has a plan in place that replaces equipment after a certain period of time, even if it still runs fine.  Thorius received quotes from people interested in purchasing the old equipment, and he says the buyer offered about 26-hundred dollars more than the trade-in value.  The new excavator should arrive before spring.
