The Washington Demons girls basketball team kicks off their conference season tonight when they travel to Fairfield.

Washington struggled with rebounding against Solon, which led to many different fouls sending the Spartans to the line on the bonus early in the fourth quarter.

The Demons are shooting just 31 percent from the floor, and 53 percent from the free throw line, they are led by Beth Dillon who has 36 points on the season, followed by Stephanie Fishback with 32.

Fairfield is 2-2 this season, and shooting just 27.5 percent from the floor, but have 159 points on the year.

The Trojans are led by Sidney Baumann with 52 points, followed by Marisa Repp with 44.

Demon head coach Phil Long said his team needs to make the easy buckets, and move their feet to prevent the fouls.

“Well we have to make our two- foot shots, step to the free throw line and knock a few free throws in and keep ourselves defensively in the game by not fouling so much and letting them rest, it’s the double edge to fouling you can’t wear the other team down they stand at the free throw line and regroup and catch their breath and go from there,” Long said.

The Demons and Fairfield start tonight at 6:30, you can hear this game on AM and FM KCII with pregame at 6, and tip-off at 6:30. The one to count on for today’s local sports coverage is AM and FM KCII.
