An upcoming farming conference will include a presentation from a local farmer. Rob Stout has farmed for about 35 years; he lives south of West Chester.  He is speaking at the Practical Farmers of Iowa conference next month in Ames.

Stout’s presentation comes as part of the “Cover Crops 101” session, which is in partnership with Iowa Learning Farms.  The session is for first-time cover crop farmers and veteran cover crop growers.           Stout will be discussing ways to cover corn and soybean systems and incorporation of no-till systems.

The goals of the Practical Farmers of Iowa is to provide good crops while maintaining clean air and water and biodiversity. Their conference starts January 10.
