The recent drought has been hard on livestock producers. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach along with the Iowa Beef Center are presenting education programs across the state on that topic. One of those meetings is tonight at the Washington County Extension Office.
The title of the program is: Drought, a Game Changer for Beef Operations. An I-S-U Extension beef specialist will be focusing on managing feed costs and alternative feeds.
According to I-S-U, some of the topics that are likely to come up are the practices of reducing corn-use without affecting performance, chemical treatment and supplements, current beef supply and demand, and an outlook on feed costs. Along with in-person presentations, there will be a recorded presentation from other specialists in the field.
The program is at 7 p.m. today (Tuesday).
