Thanks to the help of some grants the City of Kalona will be making improvements around town. The Washington County Riverboat Foundation’s last disbursement of grants Kalona received around $30,000. More than half of that will go towards phase 2 of the ball field renovation. They’ll use the funds for a PA system, benches, tiling the fields, and replacing two dugouts. The project began two years ago when dugouts were redone on the south field and a concrete plaza was poured. A third of the money is going to renovate the enclosed shelter at the city park.
