Rivals will meet up tonight between Lone Tree and Highland, as Lone Tree hosts a quadrangular with Highland, Van Buren and Iowa Valley.

Lone Tree is looking to get a lot out of Alex Yedlik at 145 and Keaton Kane at 125.

Lone Tree head coach Bret Jones said Highland is always tough, but tonight is about individual improvement.

“Obviously Highland has a very strong tradition of wrestling and we are all aware of that and we’ve wrestled them pretty close the last two year in terms of team scores against Highland, both times within a match,” Bret Jones said. “We want to be right in there with them again and it really comes down to matchups, how we match up with them with our strongest kids and their strongest kids and whatnot.”

Highland head coach Clint Jones recognizes the rivalry and understand that there will be some extra passion when a Huskies and Lion meet on the mat.

“I don’t think it matter which sport when it involves Highland and Lone Tree, it’s a going to be a competitive rivalry, and you can look at any sport,” Clint Jones said. “These venues have a lot of involvement we each other, but there is a lot of pride that factors into it when these two school compete against each other and Wrestling is certainly no different.”

The meet will be at Lone Tree, and will start at 6:00 tonight.
