The Washington Demon girls got the win Saturday against West Branch 43-35.

The Demons who had just played a game in Keokuk on Friday, and didn’t get home until midnight, trailed at half 22-17, after some sluggish play, and going 1-5 from the free throw line.

Out of the locker room they were a new team, grabbing a three point lead after three and then finally the win.

Washington was led by Stephanie Fishback with 10 points, and Beth Dillon with seven, but the player of the game was head coach Phil Long for the halftime speech that got the Demons back on track in the second half.

Long said it was simple.

“Go fight win here we go,” Long said.

Washington now plays Tuesday against Ft. Madison in Washington. That game can be heard on AM and FM KCII and KCIIradio.com.
