The Mid-Prairie boys used the 4th quarter to pull away from Durant to capture a 60-42 Cedar Valley Conference win Friday night in Wellman. The Golden Hawks held slim leads through most of the first three quarters, taking a 37-31 lead into the final eight minutes. Mid-Prairie poured it on in the fourth, outscoring Durant 23-10 to secure the win. The Golden Hawks were able to go on a run despite injuries to key starters Reid Miller and Ryan Hoffman. Head Coach Chris Kern spoke about what keyed the Hawks final quarter run.

“The fourth quarter, I thought that we really took over on the boards, got some tip ins, and toughed it out, and I thought we were just a little bit more patient on our offense getting to where we needed to be and letting our offense work for us and it paid off,” Kern said.

Mid-Prairie was led by Dayton Hall’s 21 points and excellent bench play from Nathan Faselt who tallied a double double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. With the win Mid-Prairie improves to 5-1 on the season and 4-1 in the Cedar Valley Conference. Mid-Prairie will step out of league play next week when they host Solon and Clear Creek Amana to finish the pre holiday portion of the campaign.
