The Mid-Prairie girls have posted back to back wins after knocking off Durant 46-35 Friday night in Wellman. The first quarter gave the Golden Hawks a jump start as they finished the period on an 18-5 run, after the game Head Coach Marc Pennington commented on what helped his team to the hot start.

“We played really well, guarded really well, defended the three point line. Durant has two nice guards, but we did a nice job holding them down,” Pennington Said.

Good play continued for the Golden Hawks as they outscored the Wildcats 15-6 in the 2nd quarter to lead 33-11 at the half. Mid-Prairie was never seriously threatened in the second half though their lead was cut to 11 by the end of the contest. Mid-Prairie was led by Mariah Swartzentruber’s 15 points, Taylor Kurtz added 10. With the win Mid-Prairie is now 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the Cedar Valley Conference, the Golden Hawks will close out the pre holiday portion of their schedule next week with games against Solon and Clear Creek Amana.
