An accident in Jefferson County last night claimed the lives of three young men. According to the Iowa State Patrol, shortly after 10 PM a vehicle driven by Martin Lee Durflinger, 23, of Ottumwa was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on Old Highway 34 and Hemlock in Jefferson County. The vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and struck a light pole, rolling several times. Durflinger was trapped in the vehicle. Two passengers, Robbie Abel of Hedrick, 23 and Harry Blodgett, 21 of Brighton, were ejected. They were transported from the scene to Jefferson County Hospital. The accident remains under investigation.
