The Washington Demon girls came out winners last night against Keokuk, 58-51.

Washington led the entire game, after a first half of some offensive milestones, including Stephanie Fishback going 3-3 from behind the arc in the first half, Johnannah Vittetoe going 2-2, Beth Dillon hitting a three in the first, along with Redlinger. Washington only missed one three pointer in the first half, but didn’t attempt to shoot the three ball hardly at all in the second half.

“I’m blessed to have a lot of seniors, I have seven of them, and facing a bunch of freshmen and sophomores, with the exception of Rachel Dunlap and the Deyo girl, Keokuk has a really young squad, but we took advantage of their youth tonight to sneak down here and win and have two road victories to start off our conference,” Long said.

Washington’s defense continued to stand strong, holding Keokuk to just four points in the second quarter, but the fourth quarter opened the door for Keokuk to come back in, but bad fouls on the Chiefs side allowed the Demons to shut it down and grab the win.

Redlinger led the way with 14 points the Demons, with Fishback behind her with 13. Dillon and Vittetoe both had 11.

Demon head coach Phil Long said this game was about his veteran girls doing the job they needed to.
