The Washington Police Department will soon have a speed trailer to place around town. The Washington City Council authorized the department’s purchase of a speed monitoring trailer at yesterday’s meeting. Police Chief Greg Goodman shared that through their participation in the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau they were able to secure a grant to help pay for the trailer. The grant will cover $4,500 worth of the $6,395 total cost. The rest will be paid with forfeiture funds, money that was seized in narcotics cases.

Goodman told the council that they would have it out as much as possible. He added it will help the department find speeding patterns.
