In theory, you might have been able to see a snowflake or two on Sunday, but most of the snow fell far to the north of Washington County. A chance of snow over the weekend proved to be a mostly cloudy and then breezy day in Washington.
Only a trace amount of precipitation was recorded at the Washington Municipal Airport while the temperature lingered around 30 degrees. Areas of northern Iowa had winter weather advisories in effect yesterday. Up in some parts of Minnesota, there was a real return to winter with upwards of nearly a foot-and-a-half of snowfall. Flights were even canceled at the Twin Cities airport.
There’s a chance of flurries in some parts of eastern Iowa this afternoon. And if the forecast for the week holds true, there’s not likely another chance of snow in Washington until at least Saturday, which is still technically one week before the start of winter.
