The Regional playoff bracket has come out for the girl’s 3A basketball, and Mid Prairie has received the top seed in region 6.

The Golden Hawks will play on February 9 for their first game at home against South Tama.

Golden Hawk head coach Marc Pennington said he is happy with the draw, but it’s going to be tough.

“I’m really happy that we get two home games to play, if we win the first one we’ll have two games at home, that’s a nice reward for the kids for the year that they have had,” Pennington said. “South Tama is a very good team, they are .500, they have six seniors, four girls who score double figures and average about 60 points per game, so we’ll have our hands full with South Tama, no doubt about that.”

Other teams on their half of the bracket is; East Marshall and Collins-Maxwell-Baxter, and on the other side of the bracket is Columbus against Williamsburg and West Liberty against Mediapolis in the first round.
