The city of Washington will issue another check and give topsoil to owners of farmland on the southeast side of Washington. After a street improvement project on East Fillmore in 2008, a landowner was financially compensated for lower quality soil as a result of that work.  The city has been making payments totaling a few thousand dollars.  There was recent disagreement about what would fulfill the city’s financial obligation.

The city will now be writing a check for about 26-hundred dollars to Tim Temple, who is the land tenet. The city also plans to deliver about 170 cubic yards of topsoil to the property, which is owned by Esther Bordwell. The soil will be taken from a nearby project at the Washington Municipal Airport this summer.
