The City of Washington has received about 44-thousand dollars in an energy rebate. Alliant Energy Account Manager May Farlinger presented a check to the city council Wednesday.  The city’s new waste-water treatment facility has among other things geothermal heating and cooling.

Smaller rebates are available for residential improvements including such upgrades as new energy efficient water heaters.  Farlinger says that Alliant will also be planting trees at the new treatment facility through the ‘Branching Out’ program, which attempts to reduce heating costs by adding shade trees.
