Community Chest Leader Set to Retire
Posted By News On @ 6:22 am In Today's Local News | Comments Disabled
A leader in a group that helps fund local non-profits is set to retire. For nearly three decades, Roberta Lampkin has helped the Washington Community Chest in their effort to collect contributions and disburse them to a variety of other local groups.
Lampkin will be stepping down from her work with Community Chest. The non-profit was founded in 1947, and Lampkin spent 29 years helping them in various ways.
The group raises money through an annual dinner, raffles, memorial gifts and general contributions. For this year, the group has a goal of raising nearly 50-thousand dollars. They hope to be able to partially fund Boy Scout Troop 242, the Child Advocacy Board, the Coalition of Senior Citizens for Community Service, Hamakua Youth Center, Lending Hands Adult Day Care, and the Washington Community YMCA.
An open house with coffee and desserts is planned to honor Lampkin and her work. It’s Sunday afternoon at Lending Hands in Washington from 1:30 to 4:30.
