The Mid-Prairie and Washington wrestling teams went to the Solon wrestling tournament and both came out with one champion.
The Demons had a champion at 113 with Feltcher Green. Green talked after his match about the move he used to win the championship.
“I hit a single, and I let go of it which was a mistake, but then I kept going around the corner and he left his head there so I locked it up and brought his back inbounds and cradle,” Green said.
Washington finished eighth overall and had two runners-up with Mitchel Hora and Tanner Knupp.
On the Mid-Prairie side Phirom Peterschmidt was a champion at 182. Peterscmidt talked after his match about his confidence level going into the championship.
“This is the first time I’ve seen him in the finals, but he went into a double overtime with a guy I pinned earlier in the year so I was confident that I would get the win.” Peterschmidt said.
Phirom’s brother Nearoth was the Golden-Hawks only runner up at 195.
Mid-Prairie and Washington wrestling are both back in action this week on Thursday, when both teams travel to a quadrangular along with BGM at HLV
