Judging by responses, Downtown Washington businesses benefited from a shop local mentality this holiday season. Angi Staley, Manager at the Edge 2, says they exceeded their gross sales from last year thanks to holiday shoppers. She attributes this to the emphasis put on shopping locally. She adds another factor was the rush to get Washington Demon apparel with the old logo, that’s now being phased out. Owner and Manager of Browns Shoe Fit Brent Kromrie shares it was the Main Street Washington S.N.O.W. event in November that helped kick off a great shopping season, which continued right up until Christmas Eve, where he saw a lot of late shoppers. Gary Glandon, who owns Country Market, says he too saw more activity this year.
