The Mid-Prairie girl’s basketball ball team will host Wilton tonight in a Cedar Valley Conference game.

The Golden Hawk girls are coming off their big win from this weekend against Mediapolis, and are looking to keep rolling.

They are 6-2 and shooting 35.5 percent from the field, and 43 percent from the free throw line.

Mariah Swartzentruber leads the way with 87 points for the team, with Mallory McArtor behind her with 61.

Wilton is just 1-9 this year shooting 29 percent from the floor and 49 percent from the free throw line.

Their leading scorer is Grace Austin with 124 points and Olivia Reifert with 89 points. After Reifert there is a 50 point drop off to the next player.

Golden Hawk head coach Marc Pennington said his team’s goal is to get better every game, but the real goal is Jan. 25.

“You know since I have been coaching, that has been my philosophy all along,” Pennington said. “You want to play your best ball Jan. 25 on, that is when you want to get things going, and if we can do like we did last year, I was very pleased with that, and [maybe] go a little deeper.”
