A city maintenance crew cleaned up a large amount of trash dumped near a popular trail in Washington last week. The illegal dumping by the paved trail that connects West 3rd Street and Kewash Trail was reported on January 6th. Washington Police Chief Greg Goodman says the city is now seeking restitution for the hours of work it took to clean up the estimated 20 bags of garbage, most of which made its way into Crooked Creek. He says in his opinion tax payers should not be responsible for this. The suspect has been issued a civil citation for violating city code, which prohibits open dumping.
